The Italian Train That Almost Left Me Behind

I was standing in Santa Maria Novella station in Florence, holding a lukewarm cappuccino, and staring at the departure board like it was written in ancient Latin.

Train to Rome: binario 16. My ticket said binario 9. I had five minutes. My heart dropped.

I reached for my phone to check the ticket app… and then froze. No Wi-Fi. No signal. I’d turned off roaming to avoid getting charged a fortune.

Panic.

Then I remembered — I had topped up my B12 Link eSIM the night before. I opened settings, made sure it was active… and there it was. Signal. 5G.

Ticket app opened. Google Maps showed me a shortcut through the station. I ran like I was in a movie. Backpack bouncing, coffee spilling, people staring.

I made it to the train door just as it was closing. The conductor looked at me like, “Lucky tourist.”

But it wasn’t luck. It was B12 Link.

I sank into my seat, pulled out my phone, and booked a dinner spot in Rome for later that night. Data was smooth. No stress.

Looking out the window as Tuscany blurred by, I realized something:
It’s not just about saving money — it’s about not missing the moments that matter.
